Pro Point Invitations Now On Threshold System Sideboard Staff The DCI recently announced that Professional Point invitations to Pro Tours are now being awarded based on a threshold system. That is, instead of issuing Pro Tour invitations to the Top 50 from a given professional standing, anyone with more than 20 PT Points is issued an invitation. Also effective with the 2000-2001 season, beginning with Pro Tour-Chicago, each Pro Tour Stop will invite players based on the Professional Standing immediately preceding that PT, rather than two stops before. For example, the Chicago Professional Standing will be used to issue invitations to Pro Tour-LA, rather than being used to issue invitations to Pro Tour-Tokyo. This change in system will produce a single instance of Professional Standing "overlap" on the Pro Tour-Chicago invitation list. Pro Tour-Chicago invitations will be issued based on both Worlds 2000 and New York 2000-2001 standings. Twenty points in either standing will earn a player an invitation to Chicago. The threshold will stay at 20 points until the professional standings switch to 7-event standings, which will happen later in the 2000-2001 season. All these policies will be spelled out in detail in the 2000-2001 invitation policy, which will be released on September 1st.
